A list for living, not for racing against time
I don’t want a list designed to make me panic about getting older. This isn’t “50 things before 50,” and it isn’t a collection of impressive experiences I can tick off to prove I’m living properly.
My life list is simply a place to keep the things that make me curious. Some are big adventures; others could happen on an ordinary Saturday. They don’t all require lots of money, another person or a perfectly organised plan.
The list gives my ideas somewhere to live besides “someday.” I don’t have to do everything on it but every so often, I choose one thing and make it real.
Start your own Life List
Don’t begin with what sounds impressive. Begin with what makes you curious. Finish these sentences quickly, before your sensible brain starts explaining why none of it is practical.
I keep saying I would love to…
If money and logistics were already sorted, I would…
Something I would like to learn is…
Somewhere I would love to wake up is…
A challenge I would feel proud to complete is…
One small pleasure I could plan this month is…
Your list can change as often as you do. Add to it, cross things out and decide that something no longer matters. It belongs to you; it isn’t a contract.
Now choose one thing. What is the smallest step you could take towards it this week?
